Bitmine Immersion Technologies announced on October 12, 2026, that it acquired 12,532 Ethereum (ETH) over the past week. Valued at approximately $31.9 million based on a price of $2,544 per token, this purchase brings Bitmine’s total ETH holdings to 6,028,946 tokens. This stash represents 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply of 122.1 million tokens, leaving the firm just short of its stated goal to own 5% of the network, a target Chairman Tom Lee refers to as the "Alchemy of 5%."
The company reported total crypto, cash, and investment holdings valued at $16.2 billion. In addition to the ETH, Bitmine holds 214 Bitcoin, $612 million in cash and marketable securities, an $180 million stake in Beast Industries, and an $85 million stake in Eightco Holdings. The firm has staked 5,067,309 ETH, which Lee stated generates annualized staking revenue of about $336 million.
Tom Lee indicated that Bitmine needs approximately 100,000 more ETH to reach its 5% target, after which the firm will be "done stacking." Lee predicted a significant crypto bull market driven by tokenization, generational wealth transfers, and supply absorption by treasury firms. He noted that Bitmine shares, trading around $26, are highly correlated with ETH performance.
Bitmine’s accumulation strategy highlights the growing influence of corporate treasuries on cryptocurrency supply dynamics. By targeting 5% of Ethereum’s total supply, the firm is effectively removing a substantial portion of circulating assets from the open market, potentially impacting liquidity and price discovery mechanisms. The declaration that they are nearly "done stacking" suggests a shift from aggressive acquisition to holding and yield generation through staking, which could stabilize their balance sheet while maintaining exposure to asset appreciation.
Lee’s projection of a major bull market relies heavily on structural changes such as tokenization and institutional adoption rather than speculative retail cycles alone. However, the correlation between Bitmine’s stock performance and ETH prices introduces operational risk; any regulatory scrutiny or market downturn affecting Ethereum would directly impact Bitmine’s valuation. Investors should monitor whether the firm maintains its staking yields and if the anticipated supply squeeze materializes as other entities follow similar treasury strategies.
