The Solana network achieved a new record for daily token issuance on Wednesday, with more than 263,000 new Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens minted. This volume exceeds the previous peak observed in December 2024, when approximately 40,000 to 50,000 tokens were issued daily during the height of the memecoin cycle.
Data from Blockworks indicates that launchpads facilitated 40,360 of these issuances, with Pump.fun accounting for the majority at 34,184 coins. Pump.fun remains the leading Solana-native protocol by daily revenue, generating $1.8 million in the past 24 hours according to DefiLlama. The platform contributed one-third of Solana’s first-quarter 2026 revenue, totaling $124 million out of $342 million, despite earlier reports of cooling memecoin activity.
This surge in token issuance highlights the continued dominance of automated launchpad infrastructure within the Solana ecosystem. By enabling creators to design and trade assets without extensive technical skills, platforms like Pump.fun have lowered barriers to entry, resulting in a volume of new assets that dwarfs previous market cycles. The data suggests that while individual asset performance may vary, the underlying mechanism for asset creation has become highly efficient and scalable.
From a Market Structure perspective, the concentration of issuance through specific protocols raises questions about liquidity fragmentation and long-term sustainability. With Pump.fun generating significant revenue and capturing a large share of network fees, its influence on Solana's economic model is substantial. Stakeholders should monitor whether this high-velocity issuance translates into sustained trading volume or if it leads to increased volatility and regulatory scrutiny regarding compliance and investor protection.
