US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds achieved their most significant weekly capital influx of 2026, attracting $2.39 billion in net inflows. This surge marks the highest weekly total since the period ending October 10, 2025, when inflows reached $2.71 billion, according to data from SoSoValue. The recent activity also exceeded the previous year-to-date high of $1.92 billion recorded in August. On Friday alone, the funds added $134.5 million, pushing cumulative year-to-date flows to approximately $926 million. This represents a substantial recovery from the deficit of roughly $5.55 billion observed in early July.
Despite the strong aggregate figures, daily momentum moderated after initial inflows approached $1 billion on Monday. During this period, Bitcoin prices retreated from above $87,100 to trade at approximately $83,116, reflecting a 1.6% decline over the preceding 24 hours but maintaining a 1.7% gain over the past seven days. Market sentiment indicators remained positive, with the Crypto Fear & Greed Index rising to 74 from 70 the prior week, staying within "Greed" territory. Broader altcoin ETFs also saw increased demand, with US spot Ether ETFs recording about $690 million in net inflows last week, reversing the $140 million outflows from the previous week, while spot XRP ETFs attracted approximately $76 million.
The return of substantial institutional capital into US spot Bitcoin ETFs signals a decisive shift in market structure following the volatility that characterized the first half of 2026. By surpassing the August peak and approaching the historical highs seen in late 2025, these inflows demonstrate that traditional finance participants are re-engaging with digital assets despite price corrections. The narrowing of the year-to-date deficit to a positive $926 million indicates that the earlier outflow phase has fully reversed, suggesting renewed confidence in the asset class's medium-term trajectory among regulated investors.
However, the deceleration of daily inflows after Monday’s near-billion-dollar spike highlights potential fragility in current demand dynamics. While the Crypto Fear & Greed Index remains in "Greed" territory at 74, the simultaneous price retreat from $87,100 to $83,116 suggests that buying pressure may be absorbing selling rather than driving sustained upward momentum. Investors should monitor whether this weekly aggregate strength can translate into consistent daily accumulation or if it represents a one-time rebalancing event. The parallel recovery in Ether and XRP ETF flows further implies that risk appetite is broadening beyond Bitcoin, potentially stabilizing the wider crypto market infrastructure against isolated asset-specific shocks.
