Bybit CEO Ben Zhou outlined the company’s expansion into "The New Financial Platform" during its biannual "Keynote with Ben," detailing new products across traditional and digital markets. Four years after entering traditional finance (TradFi) with CFDs, Bybit launched stock trading on October 12, offering access to over 1,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs using USDC. The platform also plans to launch tokenized stocks (mStocks) in November via a collaboration with Mantle, alongside existing services like IPO Express, which provides access to selected primary-market opportunities.
Beyond trading, Bybit has expanded its payments infrastructure, issuing more than 4 million Bybit Cards and connecting users to over 5,000 merchants in 15+ countries. The company reported intercepting over 30,000 suspicious withdrawal requests in the first half of 2026, protecting users from potential losses exceeding $700 million. Additionally, Bybit secured five new regulatory licenses in 2026 across the European Union, Cayman Islands, Indonesia, South Africa, and El Salvador, supporting its global operational footprint.
Bybit’s strategic pivot from a crypto-centric exchange to a multi-asset financial platform reflects a broader industry trend toward convergence between traditional finance (TradFi) and digital assets. By integrating stock trading, tokenized securities, and payment solutions, the company aims to capture a larger share of user liquidity by offering a unified ecosystem for both investment and everyday spending. This diversification reduces reliance on volatile crypto trading volumes while leveraging existing user bases for cross-selling traditional financial products.
From a Regulatory perspective, securing licenses in diverse jurisdictions such as the EU and El Salvador is critical for legitimizing these TradFi offerings. However, the integration of tokenized stocks and AI-driven services introduces complex compliance challenges regarding securities laws and data privacy. The emphasis on security metrics, such as intercepted fraud attempts, serves to build credibility among institutional and retail investors who may be hesitant to migrate traditional assets onto a platform historically associated with high-risk crypto derivatives.
