Despite Bitcoin’s recent rally to $81,600, CoinMarketCap Head of Research Alice Liu highlights significant shifts in the decentralized exchange sector. Liu observes that while Hyperliquid maintains its lead among DEXs, centralized exchanges are encroaching on its territory. Specifically, the introduction of tokenized real-world asset (RWA) perpetual futures by Binance has caused a rapid migration of volume and liquidity away from Hyperliquid.

Liu points out that Binance now commands approximately 50% of the broader market share for these products, challenging Hyperliquid’s dominance. Although Hyperliquid remains a primary venue for aggregated liquidity and product scale, this competitive pressure is notable. Additionally, Liu discusses Hyperliquid’s token economics, noting that Hype reached an all-time high of $86 driven partly by over $400 million in token buybacks funded by project revenue.
