USD1, a stablecoin backed by U.S. dollars and short-term Treasury bills, crossed $60 billion in cumulative trading volume on Binance. Launched in March 2025 by World Liberty Financial, the token currently holds a market capitalization of approximately $4.33 billion. Monthly trading volumes on the exchange have stabilized between $5 billion and $8 billion, indicating consistent usage rather than isolated spikes.
Analyst Darkfost noted that while the market cap is growing, a significant portion stems from a single $2 billion institutional settlement tied to an investment in Binance. Consequently, he views trading volume as a more accurate gauge of actual utility. Darkfost also highlighted Binance’s dominant position, holding around 70% of stablecoins present on exchanges, which supports USD1’s integration into the broader ecosystem.
The milestone underscores the rapid adoption of politically connected crypto assets within major centralized exchanges. By leveraging Binance’s substantial liquidity footprint, USD1 has achieved significant trading throughput in under eighteen months. This trajectory suggests that institutional-grade compliance frameworks and dollar-backed reserves are becoming critical differentiators for new stablecoins seeking legitimacy in a crowded market.
However, the reliance on specific institutional transactions for market capitalization growth introduces operational risk regarding perceived organic demand. While steady monthly volumes indicate functional utility, analysts caution against conflating one-off settlements with sustained retail or institutional usage. The broader context of rising stablecoin inflows, signaled by metrics like the Stablecoin Supply Ratio, provides a supportive macro environment, yet individual token performance remains sensitive to concentration risks.
